"Wild places, wild seas, and history fascinate me, especially old tracks and atmospheric woodlands. I’m drawn to the intriguing shapes of ancient trees, and how they appear almost as human forms frozen in time. What I find really interesting is that twilight time of day when things start to blur visually and are less clearly defined. There’s a French saying about the moments just after the sun goes down. It’s known as ‘The hour between dog and wolf’. Shadows draw longer and landscapes take on a different appearance. This balance between the benign and malign in the natural world is what I try to convey in my work".
