Security and Fire Systems
Security and other protective services at Rye Art Gallery are a vital consideration for the Trustees. The high risks are fire, water damage and theft. Measures are in place to manage risks. These include alarm systems and the adherence to strict procedures. First-aid fire-fighting is carried out by an alarm detector system and a wide range of equipment. Conflicts which have arisen between providing direct fire escape routes and the constraints of old buildings have been addressed and overcome.
Security systems include barriers, intruder detection, deadlocks and non-removable hinges to external doors, infra-red movement detectors and a closed-circuit TV system. Displays are checked and reviewed regularly to ensure physical security – both before and after visiting times – with an end of open day search to prevent anyone being left behind, intentionally or unintentionally. Security experts are regularly consulted to ensure that risks - particularly security, fire and flood - are kept under review and managed. RAG maintains a check list for its own internal security and fire reviews.
