The Garden painting
This painting is the result of looking at the slate topped table in my garden that is home to a changing collection of plants throughout the year.
It has tulips and other bulbs in the spring, and seedlings are put here sometimes, to keep an eye on them.
In this painting there are echiveria and geraniums cuttings.
The painting itself has influences from several artists that I have been looking at recently, from Bonnard to Per Kirkeby. Both these artists examine how surfaces can be suggested by layers of paint, with different types of brushmark, and that is something I tried to explore in this painting.
