"Whether I am painting in oils or drawing in pencil or pastel, landscape, its associated mythology, natural and man made forms and journeys are key elements in my work. These are invariably linked by the theme of time - historical, seasonal or transitory."
From my birth to the present day, Sussex has been my home.
After attending Rye Grammar School, I undertook a two year Foundation Course at Canterbury College of Art. That was followed by three years at Medway College of Art, studying Interior Design and Drawing.
My Degree in Fine Art came later, through Independent Study with the University of East London, who awarded me First Class Honours.
As well as pursuing my own work, I have for most of my adult life taught painting and drawing, to students of all ages. From 1973 until 2005, that was at Sussex Downs College and from 2004 until December 2013 as a tutor with the Open College of the Arts.
I continue to live in Rye, working from the studio in my home
